by Rev. Joseph Adhunga, A.J., Pastor at Holy Spirit & St. Mary Magdalen
This weekend, at Holy Spirit, the community celebrates the installation of the newly elected parish leaders. The elected leaders will officially take their respective responsibilities and proclaim publicly their willingness to serve the community with love, faith and dedication. The leaders will be introduced to the community in all the Masses and at the 11 AM Mass there will be the ceremony of installation of the leaders. Therefore, I take this opportunity on my own behalf and on the behalf of the whole communities of St. Mary Magdalen and Holy Spirit congratulate every leader and wish everyone blessings of the Lord in their service to the community.
In the gospel of (Luke 5: 1 – 11), Simon Peter, and the two sons of Zebedee, James and John witnessed a miracle of the great catch of number fish. This miracle coursed fear and trembling to the disciples but Jesus told them, “Do not be afraid, from now on you will be catching men.” Like Simon Peter, James and John, the parish leaders are elected to do the same, “catching men.” They will throw their net into the deep and catch number of fish. The number of fish will be the number of people they will draw to God through their faith love and dedication.
In serving with love, faith and dedication, there will be several challenges which faces any leadership in the society. If any challenges come on your way, remember the words of Jesus, “Do not be afraid, I will be with you to the end of the world.” This requires faith and trust in the Lord. May the Blessings of the Lord be with you always in your service to the community. Amen.
