Fr. Joseph Okech Adhunga, A.J., is a member of the Apostles of Jesus, a Religious Institute founded in 1968 in Uganda, East Africa. He is originally from the Western part of Kenya, around the Lake Victoria region, and hails from the Luo tribe, one of the 42 major tribes of Kenya. Ordained in 1992, Fr. Fr. Gabriel Emuria, A.J., Associate Pastor, is a member of the Apostles of Jesus and hails from the Turkana tribe of northwest Kenya. He was born in the village of Natole in Kalokol near Lake Turkana. He took his first vows in 2010 and final vows in 2014. He has served in parishes in Tanzania and Kenya and holds degrees in Philosophy and Theology. Fr. Gabriel is excited to about his first assignment in the United States and looks forward to serving the people of God as a priest.
Fr. John Montag, S.J., Associate Pastor, grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, the second of six children. He joined the Jesuits in 1980, while a student at Creighton University. Fr. Macdonald Akuti, A.J.,hails from the Moyo District in the beautiful East African country of Uganda. The youngest of nine children, he grew up in a small village overlooking the Nile River. Nuria Portillo serves as Business Manager at Holy Spirit and St. Mary Magdalen Churches. A long-time Los Angeles resident, she has worked for the Archdiocese since 1996. She strongly supports Catholic education and sent her children to Holy Spirit and St. Mary Magdalen Schools. Nuria handles the day-to-day business needs of the parishes, working closely with ministries and vendors. She schedules funerals and weddings.
Maria “Cookie” Gutierrez, Secretary at Holy Spirit Parish, has served the parish since 1994. She grew up in this parish and is raising her three children here, sending them to Holy Spirit and St. Mary Magdalen Schools. Cookie handles the day-to-day administrative needs of the parish, including the weekly bulletin, weddings, quinceneras, baptisms, and sacrament certificates.
David Padilla, Secretary at St. Mary Magdalen Parish, has worked at St. Mary Magdalen since 2007, Holy Spirit since 2001, and additionally works at St. Anastasia as a book keeper. A native of Los Angeles he attended St. Thomas the Apostle elementary school and Loyola High School and completed a Bachelor’s in Accounting at CSUN. He’s a strong supporter of Catholic schools and the great education they provide. David handles the day-to-day administrative needs of St. Mary Magdalen Parish, including weekly bulletins, Mass intentions, and baptisms and works with all ministries and groups at the parish.

Salvador Miranda is Plant Manager at Holy Spirit & St. Mary Magdalen Churches. He is responsible for all building and facilities maintenance. A superb handyman, he has worked at Holy Spirit since 1999. He is also father of three and his children attended Holy Spirit and St. Mary Magdalen schools.
